Raising awareness for saving energy among employees by reducing power consumption through a “power visualization system”

NSK implements a “power visualization system” to allow the real-time visualization of power consumption in each building on a monitor installed inside the company.

The EMS Section of the General Affairs Department checks the amount of power consumed at the Head Office, while the Machinery Department oversees power consumption at the A1 Factory. Demand (for maximum power) is constantly monitored by a demand monitoring function at the A1 Factory in particular, and when demand approaches the contracted capacity, an email warning is issued to those in charge, and the central monitoring system sounds an alarm.

This is how visualization allows ascertainment of fluctuations, management of peak power consumption, and flattens out consumption to reduce costs and greenhouse gas emissions.
Moreover, the visualization of the effects of power saving measures further raises awareness among employees for reducing energy consumption.
